YALE, PROVINCE A MAJOR STEP CLOSER TO FINAL TREATY
VICTORIA – With the signing of an understanding by Yale First Nation Chief Robert Hope and chief negotiators from the Province, B.C. moved a step closer to having final agreements under the B.C. treaty process with seven First Nations, announced Premier Gordon Campbell.
$22.5 MILLION TO HELP CONNECT FIRST NATIONS
VANCOUVER – To help bridge the digital divide for First Nations, the provincial government is providing $22.5 million for broadband connectivity, announced Labour and Citizens’ Services Minister Iain Black with First Nations leaders.

TOFINO – The Province and the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations have achieved an unprecedented incremental treaty agreement (ITA) that will provide benefits to the First Nation and B.C. in advance of a final treaty, Premier Gordon Campbell announced.

PORT ALBERNI – A health program to reach some of B.C.’s more remote communities will provide valuable testing, screening services and tools for healthy living for Aboriginal people, announced Mary Polak, Minister of Healthy Living and Sport.

VICTORIA – The Province, Canada and four First Nations have settled agreements that resolve the last of B.C.’s cut-off claims disputes and provide land and financial resources that will assist them in developing their local economies, Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister Michael de Jong announced.
