2008 GYPSY MOTH PROGRAM SUCCEEDS
VICTORIA – The Province has succeeded in eliminating invasive gypsy moth populations in the Cowichan Valley community of Saltair and on Saltspring Island through its 2008 treatment program, with neither site requiring treatment in 2009.

B.C. WOOD TRUSS ROOFING TECHNOLOGY SUCCESSFUL IN CHINA
SHANGHAI, CHINA – B.C. forest products and Canadian wood truss technology have experienced a breakthrough with three commercial projects providing new roofs to 38 apartment buildings in Shanghai, Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell announced while visiting a project site in the Putuo district.

B.C. WOOD TO BUILD VANCOUVER VILLAGE IN CHINA
QINGCHUAN, CHINA – B.C. wood products will be used in “Vancouver Village,” a new project to develop rural housing in an area of China that is recovering from heavy earthquake damage, Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell announced.

Building a strong and diverse forest sector through revitalization, while maintaining high environmental standards, will help ensure long-term jobs and economic benefits.
