PROVINCE SUPPORTS NANAIMO MAPLE SUGAR FESTIVAL

February is a sweet time for Nanaimo residents and visitors when the annual Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable launches into high gear to celebrate the cultures and traditions of eastern Canada.

Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations Joan McIntyre and La Fédération des Francophones de la C.-B President Réal Roy at the announcement of a $65,000 grant to help support the Nanaimo Maple Sugar Festival.

2008-07-21 - Joan McIntyre, Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations, uses a SMARTTEC Calculator to determine the greenhouse gas emissions associated with her trip to the 18th Annual Pacific NorthWest Economic Region Summit, in Vancouver, July 20-24. The Province committed to fund the offsets for all delegates who register using SMARTTEC. Almost 400 of the delegates registered, measuring 112 tonnes of CO2 emissions, for an offset cost of $2,795.
