PROVINCE PROVIDES $1.7 MILLION TO CELEBRATE HERITAGE
VICTORIA – December 3, 2008 – The Honourable Bill Bennett, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts is joined by the Honourable Ida Chong, Minister of Technology, Trade and Economic Development and Minister Responsible for the Asia-Pacific Initiative at the Emily Carr House to announce that in honour of BC150, the province is providing $1.7 million to celebrate and recognize the significant role that heritage plays in B.C.
This funding is provided in partnership with the federal Department of Canadian Heritage, in support of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. [News release]

VICTORIA – Tourism projects in the Kootenays are being supported by almost $54,000 in grants through the UBCM Community Tourism Program, announced Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Bill Bennett.

BC150 LAUNCHES YOUTH VIDEO CONTEST
VICTORIA – Grade 12 students across the province are being encouraged to celebrate B.C.’s 150th anniversary through a video contest launched by Bill Bennett, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

CRANBROOK OPENS NEW SPIRIT SQUARE
CRANBROOK – Residents of Cranbrook are celebrating the opening of their Spirit Square, built to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the crown colony of British Columbia, announced Bill Bennett, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts and East Kootenay MLA.
