PITT RIVER BRIDGE PROJECT MARKS MILESTONE
October 27, 2008 – The Pitt River Bridge and Mary Hill Interchange Project marked a milestone as it reached the two-thirds completion mark. The Pitt River Bridge and Mary Hill Interchange Project includes a new seven-lane bridge that will replace the existing swing bridges, as well as an interchange to replace the current Lougheed Highway and Mary Hill Bypass intersection. The design incorporates more than $8.5 million in pedestrian and cycling features, including bicycle lanes across the new bridge.

FIRST PASSENGERS MARK CANADA LINE MILESTONE
RICHMOND – Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable James Moore, on behalf of Canada’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister, John Baird, as well as provincial Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon and project partners as the first passengers on a trial run of the Canada Line from Bridgeport Station to the Vancouver International Airport Station.

HIGHWAY 97 TO REOPEN TO TRAFFIC WEDNESDAY
KELOWNA – Highway 97 in the Okanagan will reopen to traffic at 5 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 12th, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon announced.

NORTH VANCOUVER – The Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing will benefit from $2.7 million in maintenance, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon announced.

SURREY – The launch of a new program at the Peace Arch border crossing will help reduce emissions and improve air quality, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon and Environment Minister Barry Penner announced.

CONTRACTOR CHOSEN FOR HIGHWAY 99 SHOULDER BUS LANE
RICHMOND – A contractor has been chosen to build the Highway 99 shoulder bus lane that will lead to transit service improvements along that corridor, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon announced.
